Buckeyes Qualify for College Football Playoff

Ohio State Makes First Playoff Appearance

Columbus, Ohio - December 4, 2023

Ohio State has earned a spot in the College Football Playoff after securing a victory over Purdue in the Big Ten Championship Game.

The Buckeyes, who are currently ranked No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings, will face No. 4 USC in the Cotton Bowl on December 31.

Ohio State had a rough regular season with a loss to Michigan, but they heated up late in the season. Led by quarterback C.J. Stroud, running back TreVeyon Henderson and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., the Buckeyes won the Big Ten East and upset Northwestern in the Championship game.

Playoff Implications

Their appearance in the College Football Playoff marks the Buckeyes' first since the 2020 season, when they reached the semifinals.

Ohio State finished the regular season with an 11-1 record, with their only loss coming to their archrivals Michigan.

The Buckeyes are one of four teams to qualify for the College Football Playoff this season, along with No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Michigan, and No. 4 USC.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
